I assume you mean Friends when you are talking about laughing at a programme and I'd wager they'll have watched that episode 10 times and still watch it, so it's not shit if they are still watching it

I once watched my daughter and wife watching this programme and neither of them laughed or even smiled once, for the duration of the show. So even people who like it don't laugh at it.

It's all very subjective and I get amazed how offended people get if you say a programme they like is shit.
For me an soap opera is shit... but then I used to love The Bill.
anything like TOWIE wouldn't get on my TV but I like plenty of trash that others wouldn't watch.

I decided that so much of TV was a steaming pile of puke years ago that I even gave up watching in the hope "that something good and worth watching is on later".
Those programmes were so few & far between It just wasn't worth my time waiting for them.

Try and watch 30 minutes of ITVBe without wanting to slit your wrists.
This is by far the worst channel showing absolute garbage 24 hours a day.
My Mrs, who is normally an intelligent and fairly cultured person absolutely loves it. She has it on all the time and it's making me seriously consider throwing the TV out the window.
